PERBEDAAN PROGRESIFITAS MIOPIA PADA ANAK DIBANDINGKAN DENGAN REMAJA
Abstract
Background: Myopia is a refractory disruption which is caused by focus point
situated in front of the retina, therefore, the object is not perceived well,
especially far objects. This may cause reduction of life quality since 80% of
information is acquired from vision. Myopia develops rapidly in childhood
especially school years. Knowledge and fast developing technology cause high
incidence of myopia in children and teenagers.
Aim: This study was conducted to identify the difference of myopia progressivity
between children and teenagers.
Methods: This study used observational analytic approach with Cohort design.
Subjects are all student with myopia in SDN Tlogo, SDN Ngebel and SMA
Muhammadiyah 1 Bantul dated September 2016 until February 2017. Sampling
method used was cluster sampling. Data acquired then analyzed with Mann-
Whitney Test.
Result: Seventy one subjects with myopia consist of 39 children and 32
teenagers. Analysis result shows that there is a difference in myopia progressivity
between children and teenagers (p=0.001). Mean myopia progressivity per 6
months in children is 0.2308 D, and 0.4219 D in teenagers. Statistically, the
addition from both groups do not show progressive result. Eight from 39 children
(20.51%) have progressive myopia and 17 from 32 teenagers (53.12%) have
progressive myopia.
Conclusion: Clinically, teenagers had more myopia progressivity than that of
children, because more than 50% of teenagers have progressive myopia.
