PENGARUH PERAN PASIEN TERHADAP PENINGKATAN KEPATUHAN TENAGA KESEHATAN DALAM MELAKSANAKAN HAND HYGIENE DI KLINIK HEMODIALISIS
Abstract
Introduction: Hand Hygiene (washing hands with soap and water or disinfection using alcohol) reputed as one of preventive way toward Healthcare-Associated Infections that the most important and confining spread of antimicrobial resistant pathogen. Although hand hygiene is a important prevention of HAIs, the compliance of healthworkers still low. This study have a purpose to know the influence of patient‟s role toward increasing healthworker‟s compliance on hand hygiene in hemodialysis clinic.
Method: This study is analytic quantitative study that use quasi-eksperiment pre test dan post test design. Sampling method using total sampling. 11 healthworkers have been enrolled to this study started from August 18th until August 27th in Nitipuran Hemodialysis Clinic. Healthworker‟s compliance assessment using 5 Moment Hand Hygiene checklist provided by World Health Organization. Patient‟s role is to appraise whether healthworker is compliance or not to do hand hygiene. Every patient are given 5 sets of cards that consist of 2 sets blue cards for physician and 3 sets green cards for nurse. On 1 set of cards consist of 1 obedient card and 1 disobedient card with the same colour
Result: From 247 moment of hand hygiene before patient empowerment and 229 moment after patient empowerment, healthworker‟s compliance on hand hygiene increase 19.3%, which is physician increase 11.43% whereas nurse 23.79%. Based on statistical analysis, p value 0.003 (<0.05) means that there is a influence of patient‟s role intervention towards healthworker compliance on hand hygiene.
Conclusion: Patient have an influence towards the increasing of healthworker‟s compliance on hand hygiene
