PENGARUH APLIKASI PASTA CANGKANG TELUR AYAM NEGERI SELAMA 4 MINGGU TERHADAP GAMBARAN MIKROPOROSITAS EMAIL GIGI
Abstract
Background: Enamel as the hardest part of the human body consists of million of enamel rods that have hydroxyapatite as its composition. Hydroxyapatite can be dissolved from enamel that called as demineralisation that can lead to a lession formation. This lession can be remineralized with calcium and phosphate. One of natural suorces that contains of high calcium is chicken eggshell which known to contain 97% of calcium carbonate. Objective: This research aimed to find out whether there was an effect of the application of chicken eggshell paste for 4 weeks on enamel microporosity finding. Methods: This experimental laboratories study involved 5 premolar teeth as the samples that subjected to topical application of 37% phosphoric acid for 60 seconds followed by taking the observation with Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) as a baseline. All samples subjected to application of chicken eggshell paste for 30 minutes each days for 4 weeks. The observation was taken later with SEM at the magnification 2000x. Result: This study suggested that remineralisation occured with chicken eggshells paste application. After the application of the paste for 4 weeks enamel surfaces became smoother and the porosities closures were observed compared to baseline which were rough and had a lot of microporisities with etching patterns type I (4 samples) and type II (1 samples). Conclusion: There was an effect of the application of chicken eggshell paste for 4 weeks on enamel microporosity finding by remineralising the enamel surface
