IDENTIFIKASI FAKTOR SOSIOEKONOMI PENENTU KEPUTUSAN INDIVIDU BERHENTI MEROKOK
Abstract
This research aims to find the probability of smoker’s decision to quit smoking in Indonesia. The data in this research are obtained from Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) wave 5, 2014. IFLS data is longitudinal survei with cross section data. The number of observation including 8,145 respondent, and the objects are individual aged 15 years old above. In addition, several variables are used in the research such as total cigarette expenditure, non-smoking areas, smoking when ill, education, income, job, gender, age, marital status, and divorced in IFLS Households.
Estimating the probability of smoker’s decision to quit using probit approach. The results show that cigarette expenditure, education, income, gender, age, and marital status effect on the smoker’s decision to stop smoking. While the non-smoking areas, smoking when ill, job, and divorced have no influence on the smoker’s decision to stop smoking.
