PERBEDAAN KADAR TROMBOSIT PADA PENDERITA DIABETES MELITUS TIPE 2 DENGAN ULKUS DIABETIK DAN TANPA ULKUS DIABETIK
Abstract
Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is one of the major threats for human
health in the 21st century. The impact of DM disease will lead to a serious
complication. One of the most common diabetes mellitus complications is diabetic
ulcers. In line with the increasing prevalence of DM patients, the incidence of
diabetic ulcers is increasing. Increased levels of platelets clinically often occur in
diabetics with a long duration of the disease. High platelet levels and the presence
of platelet dysfunction can be dangerous for microcirculation and increased risk
for vascular complications, including diabetic ulcers. This study is needed to
determine the difference in platelet levels in people with type 2 DM with diabetic
ulcers and without diabetic ulcers.
Methods: Cross-sectional study. was conducted by taking data of platelet levels
from medical record of type 2 DM with and without the complication of diabetic
ulcer that fulfilled inclusion criteria. The study was conducted in the hospital of
PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta in May - June 2017. The total sample used was
32 samples of type 2 diabetes mellitus consisting of 16 group samples with
diabetic ulcers and 16 group samples without diabetic ulcers. Further data were
analyzed with Independent Samples Test.
Result: The mean value of platelet levels in the group with an ulcer, ie 319,62 103
/ μL and in the group without ulcer, ie 275,81 103 / μL so that the average value of
platelet levels in the group with ulcers higher than the group without ulcers.
There were significant differences in platelet levels between groups with ulcers
and non-ulcer groups. This can be proven from the result of p <0,05 (p = 0,032)
by using Independent Samples Test.
Conclusion: From this study, it can be concluded that there are differences in
platelet levels between people with type 2 DM with diabetic ulcers and type 2 DM
patients without diabetic ulcers.
