PENERIMAAN PENONTON TERHADAP BUDAYA HEDONISME DALAM FILM SELAMAT PAGI, MALAM
Abstract
This research discusses viewer perception toward hedonism culture depicted in the movie of Selamat Pagi, Malam whose informants are taken from community of Converse Head Indonesia Yogyakarta (CHI YK) and Sinema Intensif (SI). Selamat Pagi, Malam the movie tells stories of 3 women undergoing a night at Jakarta. This research used audience review or reception analysis by Stuart Hall encoding-decoding, which covers Dominant Hegemonic, Negotiated Position and Oppositional Position. The result indicates that viewer perception of both CHI YK and SI toward the movie of Selamat Pagi, Malam which depicts some contents on: scenes on hedonism culture of shopping branded goods, hedonism culture of the most recent items, hedonism culture of consuming goods excessively, hedonism culture of sexuality, hedonism culture of night life party, and hedonism culture of hanging out at a cafe or expensive places, are mostly in a position of dominant hegemonic meaning that both agree on the depiction of hedonism culture in the movie of Selamat Pagi, Malam. This result is influenced by their respective background, experience and comprehension. Most of the informants agree on the hedonism culture depiction on the movie since this movie clearly suggests a real life hedonism culture. However, some informants are also in a position of negotiated position to some other scenes.
