UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIJAMUR FRAKSI ETANOL, FRAKSI N-HEKSAN DAN FRAKSI ETILASETAT EKSTRAK ETANOLIK PELEPAH PISANG AMBON (Musa paradisiaca var.sapientum) TERHADAP CANDIDA ALBICANS SECARA IN VITRO
Abstract
There are a lot of incident of infection diseases on skin and mouth that
caused by fungi in Indonesia. Candida Albican is one type of fungus that can
cause infection. From the previous research, it was known that the parts of Pisang
Ambon plant has high content of saponin compounds, which are allegedly active
as antifungal agents. This study is aimed to know the antifungal activity of the
ethanol extract, n-hexane fraction and the fraction of ethyl acetate extract
ethanolic from the stem of Pisang Ambon Candida albicans as In Vitro.
The extraction process of Pisang Ambon’s stem was done by maceration
method. The first step was analyze the content of saponin compounds in
qualitative with Forth test methods. TLC test was done to identify any compounds
that was contained in each fraction. The process of fractionation done with liquidliquid
extraction using ethanol solvent as a polar fraction, n-hexane solvent as
non-polar fraction, and ethyl acetate solvent as semi-polar fraction. The
experiment of antifungal activity was done with liquid dilution method. The
concentration of each fraction were 6,25 mg/ml, 12,5 mg/ml, 25 mg/ml, 50
mg/ml, and 100 mg/ml w/v. Each of the concentration was measured with
Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal
Concentration (MBC) to know the exact concentration that could inhibit or kill
Candida albicans.
The result of compound identification showed that the extraction from
Pisang Ambon’s stem had the content of saponin compound with the onset of the
foam was great in the Forth test. The result of TLC test was showed that there was
saponin compound in n-hexane fraction and ethyl acetat fraction. The result of
antifungal activity research on Pisang Ambon’ stem against Candida albicans was
obtained the value of MIC and MBC were the same on each fraction, with namely
in sequence at a concentration of 6,25 mg/ml and 100 mg/ml w/v.
